Project 1 Self Expression Through Object Task: To produce an artwork or art form as a creative representation of the self, using any medium of choice. Reflections: The learning outcomes intended were to -Identify and abstract theme/ideas of the ‘self’ -Construct a representational piece of art based on the initial ideas that have been abstracted and   redefined through the process of translation and interpretation This assignment enabled me to generate ideas and abstract concepts for design. It also helped me explore various approaches to design thinking and production. Project 2 Me in Space Task: Produce a 1:1 installation that encompasses a space and evokes the representative spatial quality. This is a cardboard installation that measures up to a volume of no more than 1.5mx1.5mx2m. On an A3 panel, explain the design process and final installation.                             ...

Exercise My Home My Space Task: Identify 5 materials that are being used in any space in your home.Produce a catalogue of these materials and describe them through photographs and some descriptions. Reflections: The learning outcomes intended were for us to recognise and identify the various types of materials and their properties. Completing this assignment enabled me to identify and categorise materials in terms of construction, finishes and furnishings. It helped me determine the general usage of the materials as well as their physical properties.Overall,I learnt how to document my findings in a systematic manner. Project 1A:Materiality of Space-An experiential exploration Group and Individual Components Group Task: In groups of 5,we had to select a commercial or residential building of which we were to show -plans,sections,elevations of the building indicating the materials -types of materials used -application of materials -physical and chemical propertie...

The learning outcomes intended for the entire module involve: The ability to recall appropriate architectural vocabulary when referring to building eras and types. Illustrate, arrange and compare the sequence of historical periods and their architecture. Differentiate the various factors that contribute to the progression of form. To produce clear building analysis which exhibits intention, concepts, patterns, disciplines, architectural languages as well as contextual relationships. Project 1 PRECEDENT STUDY (Group) We were required to conduct a study on specific buildings and produce an analysis report documenting our data. The analysis report on the Pazzi Chapel,Florence ,Italy.(Italian Renaissance) Project 2 Analysis Board (Individual) We were to produce drawing of the building studied, and to include all our data in the form of floor plans, sections, and elevations. The drawings were to demonstrate the depth of our analysis from the previous project. Analysis Boar...

Design Communication

PROJECT 1 The project consisted of two parts,A and B.We were required to produce 4 sketches for each part to practise the different forms of sketching and rendering.Part A had us practising on site sketching, two indoor sketches and 2 outdoor sketches. While part B,required us to show four variations of sketching techniques based upon an object showing details and shadows. The following are the sketches for Project 1A: Indoors of  a Mosque Indoors of a library Outdoors Outdoors The following are the sketches for Project 1B: Bracelet:Hatching Bracelet:Cross Hatching Bracelet:Stippling Bracelet:Scribbling Reflections: The learning outcomes intended for these projects were to understand the notion of space as well as develop skills in visualising of space through observation of a given site, including the development of tonal value through sketching as a mode of communication. Completing this assignment, helped me to understand...
